Upper Elementary/Junior High Teacher

Burdett School

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a full-time teacher at Burdett School for the 2026/27 school year. Under the guidance of the School Principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction in physical education at the upper elementary and junior high level, junior high social studies, some junior high fine arts/CTF options and other subjects assigned by the principal. Through adequate preparation and organization, the teacher will exhibit excellent classroom management in the promotion of goals and standards as adopted and approved by Alberta Education. Using regular evaluation and reporting, the teacher will encourage and foster lifelong learning in students while maintaining confidentiality and open communication with parents and guardians. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a professional team environment while maintaining a positive, safe, and caring learning environment. Understanding and respect for the Mennonite Culture is essential in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited University • Alberta Teaching Certificate

Terms of Employment

• 1.0 FTE – Probationary Teaching Contract • August 27, 2026 – June 29, 2027

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 19 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
