Learning Support Teacher

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a Learning Support Teacher at I.F. Cox School for the 2026–2027 school year. I.F. Cox School is a JK–3 school in Redcliff, Alberta. Under the guidance of the school principal, the successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative school team to support students with diverse learning needs in inclusive classroom environments. This role focuses on delivering targeted, evidence-informed interventions, along with ongoing collaboration, progress monitoring, and responsive planning to support student success. The Learning Support Teacher will prioritize students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, ensuring interventions are timely, purposeful, and aligned with identified needs. The role includes working closely with classroom teachers to adapt instruction, support programming, and engage in collaborative problem-solving. A strong commitment to inclusive education is essential, along with the use of trauma-informed practices to support student regulation, well-being, and engagement through safe, predictable, and responsive learning environments. The Learning Support Teacher will contribute to improving student outcomes through data-informed decision-making, effective intervention practices, and ongoing communication with staff, families, and the learning team. Key Responsibilities: ● Collaborate with teachers to support academic, complex medical, and social-emotional needs ● Provide direct support to students with identified significant and complex learning needs ● Support the development and implementation of IPPs, BSPs, MSPs, and SISPs ● Use trauma-informed, relationship-based practices to promote student regulation and engagement ● Work with school teams, families, EAs, and external supports to ensure consistent programming
Qualifications
● Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited University ● Alberta Teaching Certificate ● Knowledge of inclusive education practices and differentiated instruction. ● Experience supporting students with behavioural, emotional, or cognitive needs is an asset. ● Experience with augmentative and alternative communication strategies ● SIVA Training is an asset
Terms of Employment
● 1.0 FTE Probationary Teaching Contract ● August 27, 2026 - June 29, 2027
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 19 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
