Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a passionate and skilled Division Behaviour Support Teacher to join our Student Experiences Team. This position is ideal for an educator who understands that behaviour is often a reflection of unmet needs, lagging skills, or life experiences, and who believes that positive relationships, supportive environments, and meaningful opportunities for connection can change a student's trajectory. Working alongside students, educators, families, and community partners, the Division Behaviour Support Teacher helps schools create the conditions that support resilience, promote Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), and ensure every student has opportunities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting a student transitioning back to school after a significant challenge; the next day you may be coaching a school-based staff, facilitating a collaborative planning meeting, or delivering professional learning that strengthens inclusive practices across the division. Through this work, the Division Behaviour Support Teacher helps schools move beyond managing behaviour toward fostering student growth, resilience, and well-being. Roles/Responsibilities: ● Support students in developing self-regulation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. ● Create opportunities for students to experience success, connection, and belonging. ● Support interventions that strengthen resilience, with positive developmental outcomes. ● Collaborate with school teams to ensure students experience protective factors that support well-being and engagement. ● Problem-solve complex student situations. ● Develop practical and sustainable behaviour supports. ● Strengthen classroom practices Characteristics: ● Builds strong relationships with students and adults. ● Sees strengths before challenges. ● Understands behaviour through a lens of curiosity and support. ● Believes inclusion is both a mindset and a practice. ● Is comfortable navigating complexity and uncertainty. ● Values collaboration and continuous learning. ● Can move seamlessly between direct student support and coaching adults. ● A commitment to student success and well-being.

Qualifications

● Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate. ● Successful teaching experience. ● Expertise in behaviour support, self-regulation, and inclusive education. ● Strong consultation, facilitation, and communication skills. ● Experience supporting students with complex behavioural and social-emotional needs. ● Knowledge of trauma-informed, relationship-based, and strengths-focused practices.
