Ponderosa Colony School
Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking to fill a 1.0 FTE Colony Teacher/Principal position at Ponderosa Colony School effective August 27, 2026, through to June 29, 2027. Ponderosa Colony is located approximately 30 km SW of Bow Island, AB and serves the needs of 7 students in Grades K-9. Reporting to the Colony Supervisor, the successful candidate will possess a strong academic background focused towards a multi-graded classroom setting to all students, grades K through 9. The successful candidate will oversee the academic program being delivered at the colony. Minimal administrative duties are associated with the role.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited University • Alberta Teaching Certificate • Comprehensive understanding of the Alberta curriculum • Ability to plan & teach in a dynamic learning environment • Respect & understanding of the Hutterite culture
Terms of Employment
• August 27, 2026 -- June 29, 2027 • 1.0 FTE -- Probationary contract -- with the possibility of moving to a continuous contract
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta and educates approximately 5100 students in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, with two schools in the City of Calgary, as well. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools. 2 Alternative Program schools, and 18 Hutterite Colony schools. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
