Learning Support Teacher

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Division Learning Support Teacher (Literacy & Numeracy Intervention) to provide specialized support across multiple schools. This position focuses on improving student achievement through evidence-informed literacy and numeracy interventions, capacity building, and collaborative problem-solving. Working alongside school-based teams, the Division Learning Support Teacher helps ensure that students who are identified through provincial screening measures, classroom assessment, and school-based data receive timely and effective intervention. The successful candidate will work directly with students to provide intervention and collaborate with educators. Key Responsibilities: Literacy and Numeracy Intervention • Provide targeted short-term and intensive interventions for students demonstrating significant literacy and numeracy gaps. • Assist schools in developing intervention plans based on screening, assessment, and classroom data. • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly. • Support transitions from intervention back to classroom programming. Assessment and Data-Informed Practice • Assist schools in interpreting literacy and numeracy screening results. • Help identify students requiring additional intervention or specialized supports. • Collaborate with teachers to establish measurable goals and monitor growth. • Support documentation related to intervention effectiveness and student outcomes. Collaborative Consultation • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, learning support teachers, administrators, educational assistants, and families. • Provide consultation regarding instructional strategies, accommodations, and intervention planning.
Qualifications
• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate. • Minimum five years of successful teaching experience. • Demonstrated expertise in literacy and/or numeracy intervention. • Strong knowledge of Alberta curriculum and inclusive education practices. • Experience using assessment and screening data to inform instruction. • Excellent communication, collaboration, and coaching skills. • Ability to travel regularly between Prairie Rose schools. • Master's degree or graduate coursework in literacy, numeracy, special education, educational psychology, or related field. • Experience supporting intervention frameworks.
