Educational Assistant - Kindergarten

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant to join the team at Oyen Public School effective for the 2026-2027 school year. Oyen Public School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Educational Assistant to support students who benefit from a calm, consistent, and encouraging presence throughout the school day. The ideal candidate will build strong, trusting relationships and is committed to helping every student succeed. Responsibilities include providing academic and emotional support, speech support, promoting self-regulation, and fostering independence and confidence. This role requires patience, adaptability, and strong collaboration with teachers, support staff, and administration. Included in this role is the ability to support our Kindergarten classroom three days per week.
Qualifications
● High School Diploma ● Education Assistant certificate or equivalent; preferred ● Strong communication skills, both written and verbal ● SIVA trained considered an asset; will provide training as necessary ● Previous experience working with students with complex behavioural needs is considered an asset
Terms of Employment
● Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:05pm o Kindergarten: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30am-3:05pm ● 30.5 hours/week, 6.1 hours/day ● August 27, 2026 - June 25, 2027
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 19 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
