English Teacher - International Baccalaureate Program

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, high-energy English Teacher to join the team at Eagle Butte High School for the 2026-2027 School Year. Under the guidance of the School Principal, the successful candidate will teach Alberta English Language Arts at the 10, 20, and 30 levels, in addition to delivering instruction within the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This position offers more than a classroom assignment; it invites educators to be part of an innovative learning community at the leading edge of international education. Comprehensive Professional Learning: Prior International Baccalaureate (IB) experience is not required. If you bring strong expertise in the Alberta English Language Arts curriculum and a genuine passion for teaching, we will support your growth. Robust professional development and training are provided to prepare and certify you as an IB English teacher. Curriculum Excellence: The IB English program emphasizes global literature, critical media analysis, and the power of language. Instruction focuses on developing students’ critical thinking skills—encouraging them to analyze, question, and engage deeply with complex ideas. Engaged Learners: Teach highly motivated, curious, and diverse students who are eager to think independently, challenge perspectives, and participate actively in their learning. Qualifications
● Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited University ● Alberta Teaching Certificate ● Comprehensive understanding of the Alberta Curriculum for English ● Classroom experience with IB Programming will be considered an asset
Terms of Employment
● August 26, 2026 - June 29, 2027 ● 1.0 FTE Teaching Contract
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 19 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
