PJHS Modernization - FAQs
Has the project been confirmed? What stage is it at?
Prairie Rose Public Schools received confirmation of “design funding” for the project in the spring of 2023. The school division requires sign off of the design funding stage before construction approval is granted for the project. It is estimated that will occur when the 2024 Alberta budget (spring 2024).
Where will the Redcliff Solution Capital Project be focussed?
It has been decided that all the funding announced for the project will be focused on the modernization and renovation of Parkside Jr High School. This will occur on the same site the school is currently located. No other Redcliff schools are included in the project and no changes to grade configurations at any of the Redcliff schools will occur.
What is included in the project?
The project will focus on four key priorities for Parkside Jr High School. This includes the school gymnasium, creating CTF learning spaces, revitalizing the school exterior and creating a bright and inviting internal school environment.
What is the timeline for the project?
The design phase is 1 year from announcement and should be complete in early 2024. Construction estimation is 2 years. The school is anticipated to open in the fall of 2026.
What schools will be affected?
The only Redcliff school impacted by the project will be Parkside Jr High School (7-9).
Will any schools be closed?
No schools will be closed or moved as part of the project.
What grades will be at the modernized Parkside School?
Nothing will change. Parkside will continue to be a junior high grades 7-9 school.
As a stakeholder, how do I share my ideas about the school modernization project?
Based on the needs of the Parkside Jr High School building, the priorities of the project will be focused on the following areas of the school:
- Gymnasium: Enhancing our sports and physical education facilities.
- Career Foundations and Technology Learning Spaces: Building the future by integrating modern tech and foundational career skills.
- School Exterior: Creating a welcoming first impression.
- Bright and Inviting Internal School Environment: Ensuring our internal spaces inspire positivity, creativity, and inclusivity.
