South Alberta High School is seeking a teacher who views online learning as a powerful opportunity for innovation, connection, and personalized education. Under the guidance of the School Principal, the successful candidate will guide and support students as they progress through high school Social Studies and/or Humanities courses in a flexible, asynchronous learning environment. This role requires clear and compassionate communication, timely and meaningful feedback, continuous progress monitoring, and a strong commitment to student success, academic integrity, and authentic evidence of learning. Our students often balance academics with athletics, performing arts, travel, employment, family commitments, or other responsibilities, and we are committed to helping them achieve their highest academic potential. Responsibilities will include: • Providing academic support to online high school students; supporting students through course completion • Marking, assessment, and timely feedback • Developing, revising, and enhancing online course materials • Communicating with students, families, and staff; monitoring progress and supporting course completion • Encouraging self-discipline and academic confidence students need for post-secondary, athletic, employment, and personal goals
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited university. • Strong background in Social Studies, Humanities, English, History and/or related subject areas. • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate. • Strong digital literacy and confidence working in online learning environments. • Experience with Canvas or other learning management systems is an asset. • Experience teaching senior high Social/English/Humanities and/or diploma-level courses is an asset. • Experience supporting student-athletes, performers, travelling students, or students requiring flexible programming is an asset.
Terms of Employment
• 1.0 FTE Probationary Teaching Contract • August 26, 2026 – June 29, 2027 • Possible hybrid or remote work options
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 19 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
