Library Technician

Senator Gershaw School

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a full-time Library Technician to join the team at Senator Gershaw School in Bow Island, beginning November 1, 2026, for the remainder of the 2026/27 School Year. Reporting to the school principal, the Library Technician will maintain a well-organized and welcoming Learning Commons for all students and staff. Responsibilities include processing the borrowing of all library resources and inter-library loans, maintenance of a comprehensive and efficient system for the cataloguing of all library resources, as well as regular reporting. In supporting the delivery of curriculum and the promotion of information literacy, the library technician will also organize literacy activities and events within the school community.

Qualifications

● Library Operations Certificate or Library Information Technology Diploma or equivalent ● Proficiency in Insignia software, circulation and inventory systems, and online databases ● Strong communication skills; both written and verbal ● Proven ability to work effectively with students and staff in a learning environment

Terms of Employment

● Monday – Friday ● 7 hrs per day/35 hrs per week ● November 1 (or as close to this date as possible) – June 28, 2027

About Prairie Rose Public Schools:

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 19 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
