Jacalyn Poncelet Named as Principal of New Brigden School

Prairie Rose Public Schools would like to congratulate Jacalyn Poncelet on accepting the principal position at New Brigden School.

With 24 years of teaching experience, Jacalyn joins Prairie Rose after teaching most of her career with Saskatchewan Rivers School Division, and most recently Medicine Hat Public Schools for the past 6 years. Having worked primarily with elementary students throughout her career, Jacalyn also has a strong background in numeracy and literacy working as a Math Coach for four years and having implemented customized individualized intervention programs that focused on targeting lagging literacy and numeracy skills and social emotional learning. She has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan with a focus on elementary learning.

Having grown up, and taught most of my career in a rural community, I wholeheartedly value the shared 'village' focus. I look forward to continuing to foster the family atmosphere that currently exists and collaborating with the staff, students, families and New Brigden community. As a collective, we will continue to develop amazing learning opportunities for students to become leaders in learning and in life.”

Jacalyn will officially assume the role of principal at New Brigden at the start of the 2024-2025 school year. The opening follows current principal Gayle Vass’s retirement at the end of the current school year.
