Teacher - Junior High Language Arts

Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE temporary teacher for the 2026/2027 school year at South Central High School (SCHS) in Oyen, Alberta. Oyen is located 180 kilometers north of Medicine Hat and serves approximately 184 students in grades 7-12. The dedicated staff provide a high-quality education for all students. The school is home to the Badlands Badgers Baseball Academy. Reporting to the school principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction in grades 7-9 English Language Arts, as well as possible instruction in option classes that are appropriate for the teacher’s training. Included with the teaching assignment will be an ability to foster and maintain a positive, safe, and caring learning environment. Through adequate preparation and organization, the teacher will exhibit excellent classroom management in the promotion of goals and standards as adopted and approved by Alberta Education. Using regular evaluation and reporting, the teacher will encourage and foster lifelong learning in students, while maintaining confidentiality and open communication with parents and guardians. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a professional team environment. A willingness to participate in extracurricular activities will be considered an asset.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited University • Alberta Teaching Certificate

• 1.0 FTE -- Temporary Contract • August 27, 2026 – June 29, 2027 • Housing option available

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary.
