Educational Assistant
Bow Island Elementary School
Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Educational Assistant to provide support to a student requiring individualized assistance at Bow Island Elementary School for the remainder of the 2025 - 2026 school year. With guidance from the school principal, the successful candidate will support the student in navigating the school environment safely and confidently, assist with feeding and toileting needs in a respectful and dignified manner, and promote communication development using appropriate strategies and tools. This role requires the ability to follow therapy programs and individualized educational plans, while maintaining a calm, flexible, and responsive approach to student needs. The Educational Assistant will encourage participation in new social experiences and positive peer interactions, collaborate with therapists and school staff to implement individualized goals, and remain committed to maintaining student dignity, safety, and overall well-being. In addition to working with the assigned student, the successful candidate will support early learners within the classroom, provide small group or individual learning support as directed by the supervising teacher, and help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
● High School Diploma ● Education Assistant certificate or equivalent; preferred ● Strong communication and teamwork skills ● Experience working with children with complex or diverse learning needs is an asset
Terms of Employment
● Monday – Friday ● 13.75 hours per week; 8:35 am - 11:20 am daily ● Immediately to June 25, 2026
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 18 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
