Educational Assistant - Specialized Care
Bow Island Elementary School & Senator Gershaw School
Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a Full-Time Educational Assistant to join the teams at both Bow Island Elementary School and Senator Gershaw School. With guidance from the school principals and supervising teachers, the successful candidate will spend mornings at BIE and afternoons at SGS, offering consistent, compassionate support to students with complex needs. In this role, you will implement individualized programming for one student at each school, working closely with the classroom teacher, school administration, and members of the OT, PT, and SLP teams. With a caring and patient approach, you will help students engage in learning, build independence, and experience success throughout their day. At BIE, the position will also involve providing respectful support with toileting needs, ensuring the student’s comfort, dignity, and well-being at all times. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every student feels valued and supported.
Qualifications
● High School Diploma ● Educational Assistant Diploma or Health Care Aide Certificate is a strong asset ● Physical ability to support students including assisting with mobility, lifts, and transfers as required ● Strong communication skills; both written and verbal ● Previous work experience in a learning environment is considered an asset
Terms of Employment
● March 30, 2026 – June 25, 2026 ● Monday – Friday ● 30 hours per week

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the Southeastern region of Alberta, in the communities of Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff, and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 18 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
