Yuill School of Agriculture
The Yuill School of Agriculture is Alberta’s first dedicated agricultural high school — a 76-acre working farm where students earn their diploma while building real careers.
Real World Learning
The Yuill School of Agriculture is an innovative new Prairie Rose Public Schools program designed to connect students with real world agricultural learning, career pathways, and hands on industry experience. Opening in Fall 2027, the school will offer students in Grades 10 to 12 the opportunity to earn their Alberta high school diploma while learning directly on a 76 acre working farm near Medicine Hat.
Modern Agriculture Education
As Alberta’s first dedicated agricultural high school, the Yuill School of Agriculture combines classroom learning with practical, experiential education that reflects the realities of modern agriculture. Students will participate in authentic agricultural operations and gain experience in areas such as crop production, livestock management, horticulture, greenhouse operations, environmental science, ag technology, agribusiness, food science, beekeeping, heavy equipment operations, and more.
Program Partners
The program is being developed through partnerships with Prairie Rose Public Schools, the Yuill Family Foundation, Neubauer Farms, industry leaders, and post secondary partners. Students will have opportunities to earn industry certifications, complete dual credit courses, and develop hands on skills that prepare them for careers in Alberta’s growing agriculture and agri food sectors.
Program Options
Learning at the Yuill School of Agriculture is built around meaningful, career connected experiences. Planned learning spaces include agricultural science labs, greenhouse and horticulture facilities, a commercial kitchen for value added agriculture, heavy equipment training areas, livestock facilities, environmental study spaces, and student operated enterprises that help connect learning to real business and industry practices.
Rural Connections
The program also reflects Prairie Rose Public Schools’ commitment to innovative, student focused learning opportunities that align with the division’s rural roots and community partnerships. Through a combination of academic learning, practical experience, mentorship, and industry collaboration, the Yuill School of Agriculture is designed to help students explore their interests, develop valuable skills, and build strong futures within agriculture and beyond.
