Burdett School
Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a Part Time Custodian to join the team at Burdett School effective June 29 2026. Burdett School is a rural K-9 school located 45 minutes west of Medicine Hat with a population of approximately 160 students. Along with a strong academic based program, students receive a full complement of extracurricular activities. Burdett School also offers a German language and Mennonite culture/religion class to Mennonite students, who constitute approximately 90% of the student population. Reporting to the School Principal, the custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy work environment for all staff and students. Using a variety of equipment and chemical products, the custodian will perform all duties while adhering to Occupational Health & Safety guidelines as well as WHMIS regulations. Duties include but are not limited to, cleaning of all rooms & contents, regular garbage collection & removal, maintenance of janitorial equipment, and building security. The custodian will maintain the confidentiality of all information while communicating with students, staff and school visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner.
Qualifications
● Working knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment ● Strong communication & comprehension skills; both written and verbal ● Proven ability to work independently within a team environment ● Physical ability to perform all tasks as required ● Previous work experience in a school setting is an asset
Terms of Employment
● Monday – Friday 3 hours per day; 15 hours per week; after school hours ● Start date: June 29, 2026 (or as close to this date as possible)

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 18 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
