Speech Language Pathologist
Due to a leave, Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a Full Time Temporary Speech Language Pathologist. The successful candidate will be part of the PRPS Student Support Services Multi-Disciplinary team whose goal is to assist school teams to develop strategies and action plans that strengthen inclusive practices to better meet the diverse learning needs of all students. This position is based in Oyen with primary workload at Oyen Public, Warren Peers, New Brigden, & Assumption Roman Catholic School. The SLP will also serve students at our schools in Jenner, Ralston, Schuler, & Irvine. In addition to these schools, in-person and virtual support may be required for select Colony Schools & students enrolled in our At-Home Learning program. As this position serves students in many communities, a division vehicle will be provided. Reporting to the Director of Inclusive Learning, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a continuum of speech and language services to students from Pre-K – Grade 12. Duties include, but are not limited to, administering and interpreting both formal & informal diagnostic assessments & screenings, and providing universal, targeted individualized intervention strategies & recommendations for schools and parents while providing teachers with classroom-based supports based on individual and group needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families in the development of ISP’s and in building system capacity around teaching and supporting students with communication needs.
About Prairie Rose Public Schools:
Prairie Rose School Division is located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta and educates approximately 3400 students in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas. The Division consists of 17 public schools, 2 Outreach schools and 18 Hutterite Colony schools. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
● Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited University ● Current membership with ACSLPA ● Excellent interpersonal skills ● Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team ● Valid AB driver’s license ● Experience in an inclusive learning environment is an asset ● A willingness to temporarily relocate to the Oyen area will be considered an asset
