Custodial Supervisor

Division Office

Due to a leave, Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a temporary Custodial Supervisor to join the PRPS Team as soon as possible. Reporting to the Director of Building Operations, the Custodial Supervisor will be responsible to: • Act as the direct contact for all custodial employees within the Division • Manage custodial supplies/orders and equipment replacement throughout the Division • Inspect schools for proper storage/use of chemicals; maintain updated MSDS for all chemicals • Provide individual training/instruction/feedback on daily custodial tasks; organize opportunities for job-related training • Inspect schools for overall cleanliness, supporting custodians in their work through regular follow-ups, further training and/or performance reviews • Oversee absence management, holiday time, and coverage for custodial staff at each of the school sites • Provide instruction/training for proper summer/holiday cleaning (including floor stripping & waxing)

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment • Experience directing, supervising, and constructively supporting workers at multiple locations • Ability to instruct/train all aspects of custodial work to individuals and/or groups • WHMIS training and understanding of MSDS requirements • Strong communication and comprehension skills; both written and verbal • Previous work experience in a school setting will be considered an asset • OH&S Certification will be considered an asset • AB Driver’s License

Terms of Employment

• 30 hours per week; flexibility in working hours & availability is required • Start Date: Immediate • End Date: Upon return of the incumbent • Division vehicle will be provided for travel to various school sites throughout the PRPS Division

About Prairie Rose Public Schools:

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta and educates approximately 6500 students in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 18 Hutterite Colony schools. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
