Silver Sage Colony School

Due to a leave, Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeking a full time Teacher/Principal at Silver Sage Colony School. Silver Sage School is located approximately 17 km east of the town of Foremost, serving the needs of 23 students in Grades K-9. Under the guidance of the Colony Supervisor, the successful candidate will possess a strong academic background with the ability to teach in a multi-graded classroom setting, while fostering and maintaining a positive, safe, and caring learning environment. With the support of an Educational Assistant, the Colony Teacher/Principal will oversee the academic program being delivered to students in Kindergarten through grade 9 and will exhibit excellent classroom management in the promotion of goals and standards as adopted and approved by Alberta Education. Using regular evaluation and reporting, the teacher will encourage and foster lifelong learning in students while maintaining confidentiality and open communication with parents and guardians. Colony teachers in Prairie Rose Public Schools are given Principal designation, however, the duties of a Colony Principal at an individual colony school are different than a public-school principal (with larger enrolments and staff). Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited University • Alberta Teaching Certificate • Comprehensive understanding of the Alberta curriculum • Ability to plan and teach in a dynamic, learning environment • Respect and understanding of the Hutterite culture

Terms of Employment

• 1.0 FTE Temporary Teaching Contract • Tentative start date after January 5, 2026 - June 26, 2026 (with possibility for extension)

About Prairie Rose Public Schools:

Prairie Rose School Division is primarily located in the South-Eastern region of Alberta in the communities of: Bow Island, Cypress County, County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff and Special Areas, along with two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, 2 Outreach schools, 2 Alternative Program schools, and 18 Hutterite Colony schools and educates approximately 6500 students. Our Division office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.
